It is with a heavy heart that this year, like last year, we are going to be requesting a £1 donation, from those who come to enjoy the Carnival, as people enter the field on Carnival Day. We would again like to stress that the donation is voluntary as we would not want to exclude anyone from the field if this was not affordable for them.
£1 from everyone who enjoys the Carnival on the day will go an awfully long way to ensuring that we can continue to hold our Carnival in the years to come.
The Carnival Committee is extremely grateful for the support it receives from the general public, local businesses, local Councils and Councillors and other organisations. The Carnival would not be what it is today without you all and this is why we are reluctant to have to ask for even more support, but in order for the Carnival to survive in its current form we really do need it.
We are always looking at ways to try and reduce our costs, whilst still providing the same great local Carnival experience that we always have, but despite our best efforts the costs of putting on the Carnival continue to rise. The results of this is that the Carnival now makes a significant loss. To counter act this we have been organising fund raising events, we had Bavarian Evenings in 2016 and 2018 which raised much needed funds and plan to hold similar events in the future. However even with these additional efforts we are still concerned about the future of the Carnival.
We have thought long and hard about this, and have definitely not gone down this road lightly, but we hope that you will continue to support us.

CHARLESWORTH AND CHISWORTH CARNIVAL NEEDS YOUR HELP
Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival Committee is seeking volunteers to help in the organisation and running of the Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival!
To help us continue to put on the Carnival that you have all come to know and love we are looking for enthusiastic people to join the organising committee and/or to help out on Carnival day itself.
On the same note to ensure that we can continue to provide the sort of day that people have come to expect we would be very interested to hear from any one who has the urge to donate to a worthwhile cause, or who has a fundraising idea that they would be willing to run . Just a reminder that Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival is not a profit making enterprise.
We’re also putting collection boxes in local shops so if you see any please donate your loose change.
The Charlesworth & Chisworth Carnival parade route will begin outside St. Margaret’s School in Gamesley at 12.30 on carnival Saturday, and end about 20 minutes later at the Village Green.
Enter a float in the 2019 parade!

In addition this year we MAY be able to provide vehicles for the Carnival Royalty so watch this space!
Just check it’s okay with your grown up (as there’s some work involved for them) and fill in a Royalty application form. Then return it to your school or to the address at the bottom of the form.
Closing date for entries is Friday 3rd May 2019
As ever there will be a wide range of different food and drink stalls with live entertainment from different local bands whilst you eat and drink!
There will also be a big variety of children’s activities and stalls selling all kinds of different products on the field on the day.
